Every two years since 2011, the exclusive auction has been staged by our partner RM Sotheby’s on the scenic banks of Lake Como. Some of the most significant collectible classic cars in the world will therefore once again this year complement the automobile diversity of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este by further exciting chapters.
As the world’s biggest auction house for exclusive automobiles, RM Sotheby’s invites you to come to the Convention Centre in the grounds of Villa Erba on Saturday evening.
The auction reflects this year’s award classes in the most important heritage beauty contest for Historic Cars with particularly diverse and outstanding offers.
The list of auction lots includes nearly 60 automobiles, including one of the world’s most famous Jaguar XK 120s, owned by the actor Clark Gable. He defined the specification for his car (year of manufacture 1952) with competition-style upgrades such as wire wheels and bonnet louvres. He also had a tailor-made luggage rack fitted for his golf clubs.
The highest starting bid is held by a Ferrari 312 PB at 14 million euros. In 1972, the car was victorious at the Buenos Aires 1,000 kilometres and the Nürburgring 1,000 kilometres. It represented the last evolution stage of the famous Ferrari prototype for the “P” Class.
