THAT “MADE IN ITALY” LOOK: STYLES WHICH CONQUERED NEW WORLDSThe big visions of the Lancia marque were presented with flamboyance and style in the mid-1950s. This first Lancia Florida showboated as a glamorous yet laidback coupé. The two-door motor car, measuring in excess of five metres, takes to the road with elegant poise. Pinin Farina designed a body for this wonderful automobile with a host of subtle refinements – not without gesturing towards style à la Americana here and there. It’s certainly no accident that the study proudly bears the name of America’s sunshine state as an hommage. The Lancia Florida I was based on the chassis of an Aurelia B56 and was created as a unique one-off for the 1955 edition of the Turin Motor Show. After being showcased here, the car embarked on a tour of the major, popular concours d’élégance of the day. A number of four-door versions followed in the footsteps of the coupé. This small Florida Series served as a precursor for the Flaminia models built by Lancia from 1959 onwards. In 2014, its current owner succeeded in acquiring this important icon of automobile design history. A meticulous restoration was necessary to restore this car to its original cosmopolitan elegance. But the interior has remained original to this day.
