CORRIERE D'ELEGANZA XConcorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2023
Dear Friend of the Concorso,
When the tranquil town of Cernobbio is transformed into the marvellous showplace for the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the weekend from 19th to 21st May 2023, the elite of automobile high culture will come together here. Collectors, connoisseurs and experts from all over the world will travel to picturesque Lake Como in order to experience the selection of the most beautiful, most elegant coachworks and designs from more than 50 carefully curated Historic Cars.
Fascinating and highly varied automobiles compete in eight classes. Many of the participating vehicles are unique and one of a kind. They are frequently in private collections and therefore not even on public view in museums.
Selecting the winner from these precious gems is both an honour and a challenge for the 14 international Jurors judging the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Lorenzo Ramaciotti from Italy has been the President of the Jury since 2004. As an automobile designer at Pininfarina, he was responsible for penning the contours of a host of impressive Ferrari models. “We have historians, designers, journalists and restoration consultants on the Jury,” is how Lorenzo Ramaciotti describes his team of experts. “They all have a great deal of experience in the appraisal of Historic Cars.”
The assessment for each classic car competing in the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is strictly based on the same criteria. The established themes of the award classes allow the Historic Cars to be compared initially within a context. “The most exciting moment comes when the entire Jury deliberates on the class winners, the special awards and, most importantly, the “Best of Show”, explains Jury President Ramaciotti: “This is the moment when the role of the Chairman can be important.”
One of the special aspects of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este to the present day is the fact that elegance always plays an important role in the assessment. An appraisal of beauty was already the primary concern of the Jury at the very first edition of the contest in 1929. This is certainly not fortuitous, said Lorenzo Ramaciotti: “After all, we are in Italy, the homeland of style and elegance.” The parks of Villa d’Este and Villa Erba are a shining example of this heritage, both occupying a scenic location right on the shores of Lake Como. A more appropriate backdrop for this world-class event is impossible to imagine.

You can look forward to a unique experience. The participating Historic Cars will only ever be experienced once in this constellation. “The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is a real highlight in my calendar,” confirmed Jury President Ramaciotti: “I love the ambience, the place, the cars, the atmosphere.”
We would be delighted to be able to welcome you to this special occasion.
With our very warmest greetings and best wishes,
Yours,
Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Team
