In 1926, the body of the Rolls-Royce 10EX was produced at coachbuilder Barker as an Open Streamline Sports Tourer. The abbreviation “EX” stands for “Experimental” at Rolls-Royce, in other words for Concept Cars. The design study showed a light, sporty vehicle with swept-back aerodynamic contours, and it already anticipated the streamlined design typical of the 1930s.
The chassis was provided by a Rolls-Royce Phantom I, which was also presented in the previous year under the name “New Phantom”. It was powered by a newly developed six-cylinder inline engine and was already fitted with servo-assisted drum brakes at that time.
