Following the successful launch of the third BMW 5 Series (E34) in 1988, BMW presented a new luxury station wagon at the 1991 IAA with the 5 Series Touring. It impressed with its harmonious and sporty design, high body stiffness and many sophisticated detailed solutions. The BMW 525i was probably the best choice not only in the sedan, but also in touring. The 2.5-liter 6-cylinder engine with 24 valves produced a whopping 192 hp, was economical, easy to rev and very smooth running. It was not for nothing that this model, found almost as many customers as the 520i Touring.
