Mercedes Targa Florio racing car (1924)

In 1924, Christian Werner won the Targa Florio, a tough road race through Sicily, with such a supercharged racing car. The red paintwork, which is actually typical for Italian racing cars, helps him in this: Red cars are safe from interference by local motorsport fans – in contrast to the German and French competitors in their white and blue vehicles.
