Munich/Cernobbio. At the start of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2022, the participants in the Prelude Tour gathered together in Milan on Thursday. During the morning, the participating Historic Cars were parked in the Piazza della Scala and admired by aficionados before the drivers set off on the journey to Lake Como. After enjoying a carefully curated route from the cultural metropolis through villages, small towns and along picturesque country roads, the glamorous and sporty automobiles arrived at the harbour of Cernobbio during the afternoon.

At the BMW Group Cocktail on Friday evening, the BMW M4 CSL celebrated its world premiere, reprising a traditional concept steeped in a rich heritage with the maxim “Coupé, Sport, Leichtbau” – “Coupé, Sport, Lightweight”. This car is one of the highlights in the 50th anniversary year of BMW M GmbH with its thoroughbred motor-sport character, combining current development expertise with the latest technology. Another world premiere was celebrated simultaneously with the BMW M RR 50 Years M.

The Saturday morning is then entirely dedicated to the exhibition of participating Historic Cars at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in the extensive parkland of the legendary Grand Hotel. Once again this year, the independent Jury is made up of distinguished experts acknowledged across the world, and while they inspect and appraise the Historic Cars, visitors at the venue are able to experience technology and exclusivity in a new dimension at the Concorso premiere of the all-electric BMW i7. The new BMW i7 embodies the forward-looking incarnation of individual mobility in the luxury segment and represents the expansion of the BMW Group’s product range for local, zero-emission sheer driving pleasure in the exclusive segment of its flagship models.

On Saturday afternoon, the parade of Historic Cars participating in the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2022 held on the terrace of the Grand Hotel will provide a further touchstone for beauty and elegance set against the fabulous backdrop on the shores of Lake Como.

The Coppa d’Oro Villa d’Este awarded by Public Referendum is one of the most coveted prizes and this will also be conferred on Saturday. Other special awards will also be bestowed in various categories.

The programme on Sunday morning will feature award ceremonies for the class winners followed by the “Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award” and finally the “BMW Group Trophy – Best of Show”, the most prestigious award of the entire weekend.
