Apart from the new, later date for the event, we have developed a number of innovations for you. Naturally, our primary concern is always to retain the character and tradition of the event. Since the BMW Group took over the patronage of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in 1999 we have pursued a consistent aim of improving and expanding the Concorso. The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is one of today’s most prestigious Concours worldwide. The Concorso was brought back to life at the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este by Dr. Jean-Marc Droulers in 1995 after three decades of oblivion. The exclusive ambience of this event is due to the extremely careful selection of superior automobiles carried out in cooperation with FIVA and the strong international presence.

Additional premium features are the smooth-running organisation, the wonderful landscape of Lake Como, the numerous participants and visitors, and of course the unsurpassed standard of the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este where the first Concorso d’Eleganza was originally held in 1929.

The event underwent an initial expansion in 2002 with a return to the roots of the Concorso. We went back to the concept of the 1930s and conferred an award each year for current concept cars and prototypes alongside the competition for classic cars. As well as paying homage to the original Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, this provides a focus on automobile design. The “Design Talk” platform debate between a panel of experts at the Villa Erba develops the very diverse theme of artistic design.
