A. Lange & Söhne takes great pride in its role as main partner of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este since 2012. This partnership is based on a mutual commitment to tradition, craftsmanship and horological inventions. At the Concorso d’Eleganza, it is reflected in the beauty of rare historic and visionary concept cars. The winning cars are symbols of a creative genius and sense of style, both of the past and the present.
At the awards ceremony, the winner of the “Best of Show” category will be presented with a one-of-a-kind mechanical wristwatch, the special model LANGE 1 TIME ZONE “Como Edition”. Its solid white-gold caseback displays the hand-engraved coat of arms of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. The rotating city ring on the side of the dial represents Como instead of CET – a tribute to the venue of the competition.
A. Lange & Söhne continues a long-standing tradition of excellence in calibre design and fine craftsmanship to create timepieces which live up to the ideal of being ticking works of art.
The history of A. Lange & Söhne dates back to the initiative of Dresden watchmaker Ferdinand Adolph Lange In 1845, he laid the cornerstone of haute horology in Saxony by establishing the country’s first watchmaking manufactory. His precious pocket watches remain highly coveted among collectors all over the world. Nowadays, the annual production is limited to just a few thousand wristwatches in gold or platinum. They are endowed exclusively with proprietary movements that are lavishly decorated and assembled by hand.
With 59 manufacture calibres developed since 1994, A. Lange & Söhne has secured a top-tier position among the world’s finest watch brands. Brand icons, such as the LANGE 1 with the first outsize date in a regularly produced wristwatch and the ZEITWERK with its precisely jumping numerals display, rank among the company’s greatest successes. Sophisticated complications such as the LANGE 31 with its power reserve of 31 days, the ZEITWERK DECIMAL STRIKE and the TOURBOGRAPH PERPETUAL “Pour le Mérite” reflect the manufactory’s determination to achieve ever new pinnacles in horological artistry.
